About Our Company

Ratch Tech is redefining industrial automation by replacing traditional PLC-centric control systems with a modern, software-enabled platform designed for flexibility, scalability, and cost efficiency.

The company was founded by two friends who share a vision to revolutionize the automation industry by leveraging modern computing power and software. The idea originated while developing a non-invasive observability platform for an outdated control system. Simon joined Warren on the project after retiring from professional rugby, and they have continued working together since, turning the concept into Ratch Tech.

For decades, industrial control systems have relied on proprietary PLC hardware that is expensive, vendor-locked, and difficult to develop for. Ratch Tech addresses this with a hardware-agnostic control platform that brings the power and flexibility of modern computing to industrial automation. Our system provides a modern solution for control and automation that doesn’t lock users into proprietary hardware while maintaining the reliability and performance of traditional PLC systems.

Ratch Tech already has a working product, custom-developed for clients, and we believe our approach represents the next evolution of industrial control and hardware development.

Our mission is to modernize industrial automation by making control systems more accessible, flexible, and future-proof.

Simon Raw

Co-Founder and CEO

As a former Currie Cup–winning professional rugby player with a BSc in Mechatronics Engineering, Simon's background spans two high-performance environments where the standards are uncompromising.
Both paths shared the same truth: excellence isn’t talent alone — it’s consistency, accountability, and an obsession with getting better over time. That belief defines Simon's approach as a founder, and our strength as a company.

Simon is fully dedicated to building Ratch Tech as a company and contributing to the development of the software platform behind it.
